If you're a Mac user then the El Capitan update is a no-brainer to download, thanks to some new features such as improved Mission Control and Spotlight, Split View full-screen apps, Safari Pins and Mail suggested contacts. Saying that, we still have the hesitation to go fully iPad for all work-based computing, but with each passing year that line blurs and blurs, especially with the introduction of devices like the iPad Pro. Remember, the iMac and MacBook range don't have any of the fun tech like Touch ID, SIM support, touchscreen, 3D Touch, or host of other goodies. So it's absolutely worth upgrading for the minor tweaks that will improve your workflow, even if you won't notice many of them at first.Īnd that's the key takeaway here: while Apple hasn't done anything to unravel the OS experience, we can't help but think the company is starting to reach the limits of what can be done with a desktop operating system without a major push on the hardware front. The version from the direct download of Tap Forms already has this fix. I've submitted version 3.5.5 to Apple for review to fix this issue. Then launch Tap Forms and the window will load. So what you need to do is go to the Security & Privacy settings in the System Preferences app and then make sure Tap Forms has been granted access to Contacts. Unfortunately without the required access, the main window won't load. Tap Forms requires this in order to display the Contacts popover when you have a Contact field in your form. When you launch a fresh copy of Tap Forms, you are usually asked to allow it to have access to your Contacts database. If the main window doesn't load for you on El Capitan: This is especially evident after a search.
If you switch to multi-column list view the problem goes away. One issue you will see is that in Single Column List View, the records displayed in the list view won't always match the selected record on the right.

The Mac Trial version (which can be licensed for free if you already have the Mac App Store version installed) already has the fixes for El Capitan. I'm still waiting for Apple to review the update. Last week I submitted an update to Tap Forms which fixes some bugs that came up with El Capitan. You may still need to make sure that Tap Forms has access to your Contacts though until I get the next update out for that. Update : My 3.5.4 update has just been approved.
